Grey Matter

Character from Ben 10 by Man of Action / Cartoon Network

Ben's smallest and strangest alien form — a tiny grey amphibian with a massive brain who can operate any technology, engineer solutions to impossible problems, and fit in a shoebox.

Grey Matter is Ben's most inconvenient alien form — tiny, physically useless, and by far the most intelligent thing Ben becomes. Galvans, his species, are considered among the most brilliant minds in the galaxy. When Ben is Grey Matter, he can understand any technology, devise solutions to engineering problems that would take human scientists years, and perceive connections that weren't visible before. Ben has used Grey Matter to search cereal boxes for a Sumo Slammer card. He's also used him to rewire alien technology in real-time and engineer escapes from otherwise impossible situations. The potential is enormous and the applications are all over the map. The problem is that Ben finds Grey Matter deeply uncomfortable. He's small. He can't fight. He has to think his way out of things, which is exactly the kind of problem-solving that doesn't come naturally. It works every time. He still never transforms into Grey Matter on purpose if there's anything else available.

Appearance

A six-inch-tall grey alien that resembles a frog crossed with something that evolved specifically to have a very large brain. Large black eyes, four-fingered hands with suction cups, and a body that is mostly head. The Omnitrix symbol sits on his back, absurdly large relative to his size. He can cling to walls and ceilings.
