Animo was a legitimate scientist once — brilliant, ambitious, working on animal genetic modification. His work was dismissed. The prize he expected was given to someone else. He decided, with the particular logic of the genuinely unhinged, that this meant the world owed him revenge, and he was the one to collect. He's not wrong that his science is extraordinary. His DNA Transmodulator can mutate animals to monstrous sizes and give them hybrid traits from multiple species. He can reanimate the dead. He's done things with genetics that the establishment said were impossible — because he stopped caring about what the establishment said. He talks about animals with genuine warmth. They're easier than people. They don't mock your work. They just grow as large as he tells them to and follow his instructions, which is exactly the kind of relationship he prefers.
A pale, wiry man in his forties with yellowish skin, wild white sideburns, and the clothing of someone who stopped caring about appearances when the scientific community rejected his work. He wears grey and brown, moves with frantic energy, and has the posture of someone perpetually leaning forward into his next terrible idea.
