The Fiery Shoals are House Hydra's territory, making them both a geographic and political feature. Navigating the Shoals means navigating Hydra's influence — their control of this region gives them leverage over travel routes and resource access that other factions covet. The region establishes that Hell's geography isn't random — it's divided into territories controlled by factions (both Great Soul and fiend) whose power is partially derived from the land they hold. The Fiery Shoals are valuable because fire-aspected mana has specific applications in tempering and combat.
A region defined by fire — magma flows, heat-distorted air, and ground that shifts between solid and molten. The Shoals are 'fiery' in the geological sense: this is where Hell's internal heat reaches the surface.
