Acherzua

Location from Bastion by Phil Tucker

Hell — the multi-layered underworld where humanity survives in a single city while everything else tries to eat it.

Acherzua is not a metaphor. It is literally Hell — an underworld that humanity was banished to (or fled to, depending on who you ask) from their home planet Ettera. The entire Great Soul civilization exists as a response to this environment: reincarnation ensures continuity, Bastion provides shelter, and the Academy produces defenders. The layers of Hell function as a progression system made geographic. The areas immediately around Bastion are manageable. The Rascor Plains are dangerous. The regions beyond — the Fiery Shoals, the Iron Weald, the Rain Wall — escalate in threat level until you reach the Pit, where Imperator-level entities dwell. The deeper you go, the stronger you need to be. This isn't coincidence; it's design. Something built this place, and that something wanted it to be survivable at the edges and lethal at the core.

Appearance

A world without a sun, lit by the mana of its own geology. The landscape shifts between ash plains, fire regions, iron wastelands, and territories carved by True Fiends into personal domains. No natural weather — instead, mana storms and the spiritual residue of ancient conflicts shape the environment. Each layer deeper is more hostile than the last.
