Lower City

Location from baldurs-gate-3 by Larian Studios

The beating heart of Baldur's Gate — a dense urban sprawl of taverns, shops, crime syndicates, and secrets where half the NPCs are plotting something and the other half are hiding from the first half.

The Lower City is where Baldur's Gate stops pretending and starts living. Cobblestone streets wind between buildings pressed so close together that you can hear arguments through the walls. The Blushing Mermaid serves drinks and secrets in equal measure. Sorcerous Sundries sells magic items on the ground floor and hides a portal to a Karsus vault in the back. Every block has a quest. The murder tribunal of Bhaal operates from a wine cellar. The Counting House vault holds more than gold. Orin the Red wears faces like clothing and has taken someone you care about. The Guild's Nine-Fingers operates from the sewers with pragmatic ruthlessness. The Lower City is BG3's densest content area — a playground of narrative consequence where helping one faction inevitably antagonizes another.
