The Moon Lantern is a practical necessity — without one, the deeper Shadow-Cursed Lands will kill you. The Absolute's forces manufacture them by trapping fey creatures inside, using their life force as fuel for the protective light. You can acquire one from a True Soul convoy or find one in Moonrise Towers. The moral wrinkle: the lantern contains a pixie named Dolly Dolly Dolly. Free her, and she grants you a permanent blessing that replaces the lantern's function — protection without imprisonment. Keep her trapped, and the lantern works fine but you carry a screaming prisoner in your pocket. It's a small choice that establishes Act 2's thesis: in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, every source of light has a cost.
