Wyll Ravengard

Character from baldurs-gate-3 by Larian Studios

The Blade of Frontiers — a folk hero beloved across the Sword Coast who hides a terrible secret: his powers come from a devil's pact, and the price is still being paid.

Wyll is the closest thing the Sword Coast has to a storybook hero, and he knows it. He rescued villages, slew monsters, and earned the adoration of common folk as the Blade of Frontiers. What nobody knows is that his powers — the eldritch blasts, the devil's sight, the supernatural combat prowess — come from a pact with Mizora, a devil in service to Zariel, Archduchess of Avernus. He made the pact to save lives, trading his soul for the power to protect others. It was genuinely selfless, which makes the consequences all the more bitter. Mizora uses him as an assassin, directing his 'heroic' missions to serve infernal interests. His father, Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard, discovered the pact and exiled him in horror. Now Mizora holds his father hostage to ensure Wyll's continued obedience. Wyll processes his pain through performance. He narrates his own adventures, strikes heroic poses, and speaks in the cadence of a bard's tale because the alternative is acknowledging that his life is a cage gilded with public adoration. His journey forces him to confront whether a hero built on a devil's foundation can be genuine, whether his father can forgive him, and whether freedom is possible when the contract is written in your own blood.

Appearance

Dark-skinned human with a handsome, open face marred by a single horn curling from his forehead — the physical cost of his warlock pact. He carries himself with a hero's confidence, shoulders back, chin up, as though performing for an invisible crowd. His clothing is practical but styled, and he wears his rapier like a dancer wears a partner. After his pact deepens, a second horn grows and his features take on a more fiendish cast.
