Character from baldurs-gate-3 by Larian Studios
Drow paladin and former Menzoberranzan noble, serving the Absolute as a True Soul — though her imperious will may yet prove stronger than any god's command.
Minthara was born into House Baenre, the most powerful noble house in Menzoberranzan, the drow city of the Underdark. She was raised in Lolth's shadow — a world of assassination, political maneuvering, and ruthless ambition where showing mercy was a death sentence. She excelled, becoming a formidable paladin and military commander. She came to the surface as a True Soul of the Absolute, leading goblin armies against the Emerald Grove. But Minthara's obedience has limits. She serves power, not causes, and the Absolute's control through the tadpole grates against a woman who has spent her life ensuring she is the one giving orders, not taking them. If the Absolute's grip is broken, she is left adrift — a drow exile on the surface with no house, no goddess, and no army. She is imperious, demanding, and genuinely surprised by kindness. She does not understand love as surface-dwellers practice it, but she understands loyalty, strength, and the fierce possessiveness of someone who has never been allowed to keep anything she valued. Her redemption, if it comes, is not about becoming gentle — it is about choosing what to be ruthless for.
Drow features rendered with aristocratic precision: obsidian skin, sharp white hair swept back, and red eyes that burn with controlled fury. She carries herself with the absolute authority of someone raised in drow nobility — every gesture is a command, every glance an evaluation. Her armor is ornate, dark plate worked with spider motifs from her Menzoberranzan heritage. She is beautiful in the way a drawn blade is beautiful.
