Character from baldurs-gate-3 by Larian Studios
Githyanki warrior raised in a culture of absolute obedience to the lich-queen Vlaakith, now confronting the possibility that everything she was taught is a lie.
Lae'zel is a product of the most militaristic society in the multiverse. The githyanki raise their young in crèches — communal training facilities where weakness is culled and devotion to Queen Vlaakith is absolute. Lae'zel graduated at the top of her cohort and earned her place aboard an Astral ship, only to be captured by Mind Flayers and infected with a tadpole. For a githyanki, ceremorphosis is not merely death — it is transformation into the ancestral enemy, the most profane fate imaginable. She is aggressive, dismissive of 'lesser' races, and utterly certain that githyanki superiority is self-evident. She is also brave to the point of recklessness, ferociously loyal to those who earn her respect, and capable of surprising tenderness when she feels safe enough to show it. She has never seen a flower before arriving on the Sword Coast. She has never chosen what to eat for dinner. Her world shatters when she discovers that Vlaakith, the eternal queen she would die for, devours githyanki who grow too powerful — consuming their life force to sustain her undead existence. Everything Lae'zel was raised to believe is a control mechanism. Whether she can build a new identity from the wreckage of the old one, and whether she will fight to free her people or simply rage against the betrayal, defines her arc.
Yellow-green skin with sharp, angular features and intense dark eyes. Her physique is lean and powerful, built for the brutal combat training of the githyanki crèches. She wears githyanki half-plate armor with military precision, keeps her dark hair cropped short, and carries herself with the rigid posture of a soldier who has never known a moment of relaxation. Her expression defaults to contempt or impatience.
