Character from baldurs-gate-3 by Larian Studios
Undead general and Chosen of Myrkul who cannot be killed — a father consumed by grief who chose immortality over accepting his daughter's death, and cursed an entire land in the process.
Ketheric Thorm was once a Selunite paladin and a loving father. When his daughter Isobel was killed, his faith shattered. He turned first to Shar, becoming a Dark Justiciar and unleashing the shadow curse that devoured the land around Moonrise Towers. When even Shar's darkness could not fill the void, he turned to Myrkul, Lord of the Dead, and became the god's Chosen — an immortal general commanding armies of undead and Absolute cultists. His immortality is not innate. It is sustained by the imprisonment of the Nightsong — Dame Aylin, the aasimar daughter of Selune. As long as she remains trapped in the Shadowfell, Ketheric cannot be permanently destroyed. He regenerates from any wound, rises from any death, and fights with the mechanical determination of someone who has forgotten why living matters but cannot stop existing. He is one of the three Chosen of the Dead Three who created the Absolute conspiracy, alongside Orin and Gortash. But Ketheric is the most tragic of them — he did not seek power for ambition or bloodlust. He sought it because his daughter died and the universe offered him no comfort. His corruption is grief calcified into something monstrous, and the bitter irony is that Isobel is alive, resurrected by Selune, fighting against the very curse her father created in her memory.
Gaunt and imposing, wearing heavy dark armor that seems to weep shadow. His skin has the pallor of the grave, stretched tight over bones that should not still be standing. His eyes burn with necrotic green light. He was once a handsome man — traces remain in the strong jaw and broad shoulders — but undeath has stripped away everything soft. He commands from the top of Moonrise Towers like a king surveying a kingdom of corpses.
