Item from Azarinth Healer by Rhaegar
Ancient teleportation portals from a lost civilization — still functional, still randomized, and still separating people from their companions at the worst possible moments.
The Taleen were an advanced civilization whose technology still shapes life on Elos — their gates connect locations across the continent and to other realms entirely (including Iz and Iznakor). The gates still work, which is the problem: their destinations can be randomized, their activation unpredictable, and their endpoint impossible to verify before stepping through. Ilea and Kyrian were separated by a randomized Taleen gate during a mission — she ended up in Iz, he in Iznakor. Finding him again required Meadow's help, Iana's research, and Christopher Volaris cracking the Taleen key coordinate system. The technology is valuable enough that multiple factions study it, dangerous enough that no one has fully mastered it, and ubiquitous enough that any dungeon expedition might stumble across an active gate.
Constructed from materials and engineering principles that predate current civilizations. The gates vary in size and condition but share common design elements: geometric precision, materials that have resisted millennia of decay, and rune work that still pulses with active power. Some are built into walls, others stand freestanding in ruins.
