Item from Azarinth Healer by Rhaegar
A three-thousand-year-old mercenary organization where the entry fee is level 200 and the retirement plan is not dying — now the de facto government of an independent city.
Founded by Eregar roughly three thousand years ago, Shadow's Hand has survived longer than most kingdoms. The organization's philosophy was traditionally neutral: provide training, profitable contracts, and a community for high-level fighters who don't fit into national armies or noble house retinues. Level 200 minimum to join. Five-person teams as the operational unit. The Demon Invasion shattered the old structure. Elder Wallace Urn was assassinated for betrayal. Other Elders scattered. What emerged was a council-led organization with Claire running administration, Sulivhaan managing defense, Dagon providing intelligence, and Ilea serving as the nuclear option nobody wants to deploy but everyone's glad exists. Ravenhall's independence from the Empire of Lys made Shadow's Hand a political entity whether it wanted to be or not. The organization now governs a city, trains combat healers through the Medic Sentinel Corps, and maintains the careful balance between being too useful to attack and too independent to ignore.
Shadow's Hand's identity is carried in its people rather than its symbols — dark, practical gear marked with subtle insignia that other Shadows recognize. The organization's physical presence is Ravenhall itself and Eregar's Haven beneath it. Members are called Shadows, and the title carries weight across Elos.
