Cerithil Hunters

Item from Azarinth Healer by Rhaegar

Elves who delve dungeons despite their species' taboo against it — outcasts among their own kind and some of the most dangerous dungeon-clearers alive.

Elven culture on Elos considers dungeon-delving an abomination — an unnatural accumulation of power through violence that violates something fundamental about how elves relate to the world. The Cerithil Hunters disagree, and they've been disagreeing long enough and powerfully enough that their leader holds the Val Akuun title. Led by Isalthar, the Hunters operate as small, elite teams that clear dungeons other groups won't touch. Their members include Feyrair (the dragonling shapeshifter), Niivalyr (the historian-barrier mage), and others who chose combat and exploration over cultural conformity. They're extraordinarily capable — centuries of experience, powerful classes, and the tactical coordination of a team that's been fighting together longer than most human lifetimes. Their relationship with broader elven society is hostile. Male elves in any Domain will challenge Isalthar on sight. The Hunters operate outside normal elven territory, finding allies among humans and other species who don't care about their cultural baggage.

Appearance

Small elite teams of elven fighters equipped for extended dungeon operations. Their gear tends toward functional combat equipment rather than the ornamental style most elves favor — a visual statement of their rejection of cultural norms. The Cerithil Hunter designation is both a title and a stigma among elves.
