Shiganshina District

Location from Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama

The outermost district of Wall Maria. Where Eren Yeager grew up. Where the Colossal Titan first appeared and everything ended — and where it all ended again.

Shiganshina hangs off Wall Maria like a blister — a protruding district designed to concentrate Titan attacks on a single gate rather than the full wall perimeter. The military calls this strategic. The people who live here call it being bait. It was a quiet town of modest stone houses, market stalls, and canal boats before the day the sky split open and a skinless giant peered over the wall. In seconds, the gate was gone. In hours, the district was overrun. In days, Wall Maria had fallen and a quarter of humanity's territory was lost. Years later, the Survey Corps returned to reclaim it and found the ruins crawling with Titans and buried secrets — including the basement of the Yeager family home, which contained the truth about the world outside. Shiganshina is where innocence dies. It happens here more than once.

Also known as: Shiganshina, the outer district, Eren's hometown
