A forest of impossibly tall trees where ODM gear gives soldiers a fighting chance. Where the Female Titan was first captured — and where Levi's squad was slaughtered.
The trees here are ancient and enormous — trunks wider than houses, canopy so thick the forest floor exists in permanent twilight. For the Survey Corps, this forest is the closest thing to favorable terrain they have. ODM gear turns the dense upper canopy into a three-dimensional battlefield where human mobility can actually match Titan reach. Erwin Smith chose this forest for his trap: lure the Female Titan in, pin her with specially designed restraints, and cut the human out. The plan worked. Then it didn't. Annie called other Titans to devour her Titan body as a distraction and escaped. In the chaos, she killed Levi's entire elite squad — Petra, Oluo, Eld, Gunther — with a brutality that was efficient rather than cruel, which somehow made it worse. The forest doesn't care about any of this. The trees have been here for centuries. They'll be here for centuries more.
