Item from Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama
Omni-Directional Mobility Gear. Gas-powered grappling system with dual ultrahard steel blades. The only reason humans can fight Titans at all.
ODM gear is desperation made engineering. Two hip-mounted grapple launchers fire anchors into any solid surface — walls, trees, Titan flesh — while compressed gas propels the user through the air on retractable cables. The wielder controls direction with their hips and body weight, spinning through three-dimensional space at lethal speeds while carrying paired ultrahard steel blades designed to cut through Titan nape tissue. The blades are expendable — they dull, break, and must be swapped mid-combat from belt-mounted cartridges. The gas is finite. The anchors sometimes fail. The learning curve kills roughly half the cadets who attempt it. But for those who master it, ODM gear transforms a human from Titan prey into something that can actually fight back. Watching a skilled user move — Levi, Mikasa — is like watching violence become art. The gear sings when it fires. The cables hum. The blades flash. Then a giant falls.
