Ymir Fritz

Character from Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama

The original Titan — a slave girl who gained godlike power two thousand years ago and spent eternity in servitude because she loved the king who enslaved her. Freed only when Mikasa proved that love and letting go could coexist.

A small, emaciated girl with dead eyes and no voice. Two thousand years ago, she was a slave to Eldian King Fritz. She stumbled into contact with a spine-like entity in a massive tree and gained the Power of the Titans. King Fritz used her as a weapon of war and a breeder of royal children. When an assassin threw a spear at the king, Ymir stepped in front of it and died — not because she had to, but because she loved him. In the Paths dimension, she spent two thousand years building Titans from sand, obeying every royal command, waiting for someone to free her. That someone was Eren — who told her she was not a slave, not a god, just a person who had the right to choose. She chose the Rumbling. And she was finally freed when Mikasa killed Eren, proving you could love someone and still let them go — the lesson Ymir could never learn from King Fritz.
