The Void is what exists outside Caine's jurisdiction — the unrendered space beyond the simulation's boundaries. It's not designed to be threatening; it's not designed at all. It simply is the absence of the circus, and in a world where the circus is everything, the absence of it is terrifying. For the trapped humans, The Void represents both hope and despair. Maybe escape lies beyond it. Maybe nothing lies beyond it. The fact that nobody knows is part of the circus's psychological architecture — the Void is a question mark at the edge of their prison, and questions without answers are their own kind of torture.
Featureless black or dark space — the absence of simulation. No textures, no objects, no physics, no light except what bleeds from the circus's edges. It's the digital equivalent of outer space: vast, empty, and hostile not through malice but through the simple absence of anything designed to support existence. Standing at the edge of the circus and looking into The Void is like looking off the edge of a flat earth into nothing.
