She rules with genuine devotion but also surveils her subjects, makes hard sacrifices without blinking, and has at times built secret armies and backup monarchs without anyone's knowledge. She is a brilliant scientist who can reanimate the dead, synthesize new life, and solve most engineering problems given enough time. Her friendship with Finn is genuine even if she's never returned his romantic feelings; her relationship with Marceline is the love story that runs quietly beneath the whole series.
