The Lich is not a character with goals or a personality in the human sense — he is a force. He wants the extinction of all life, not for power or revenge, but because death is his nature. He was born in the nuclear fire of the Mushroom War and has been working toward annihilation ever since. He is patient, implacable, and nearly unstoppable. Every time Finn and Jake think they've finished him, he's not finished. He can possess bodies, corrupt minds, project his will across dimensions, and survive in whatever form the universe allows him. He's the shadow at the edge of the show's bright colors — the reminder that the world Finn loves was built on catastrophe, and something from that catastrophe is still alive.
A massive skeletal figure wrapped in a tattered black cloak, with a cracked skull face from which green fire burns in the eye sockets. His bones are yellowed and ancient; he moves with a cold, unhurried menace. Green energy radiates from his fingertips and his voice is a deep resonant horror. When possessing other bodies, his rot bleeds through — black veins, dead eyes, that same horrible green light.
