Amarantha

Character from A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

A tyrannical Fae queen who conquered Prythian from her throne Under the Mountain — vain, sadistic, and powered by stolen magic from all seven High Lords.

Amarantha is cruelty dressed in beauty. She seized control of Prythian by luring the High Lords Under the Mountain and stripping them of most of their power, which she now wears like a crown. She rules through fear, spectacle, and an absolute willingness to destroy anything beautiful. She throws parties where the entertainment is torture. She keeps Rhysand as a trophy. She cursed Tamlin because he refused to love her, and that refusal is the wound her entire reign is built around. She was once a general who fought to protect the Fae from humans, and the hatred of mortals that drove her to power is genuine — rooted in the murder of her sister by human hands centuries ago. But whatever sympathy that origin earns has been burned away by decades of sadism. She's the immediate-term villain: the tyrant who must be overthrown before anyone can deal with the deeper threats. She underestimates humans, which is the crack that everything hinges on.
