The primordial vessel that Made the world and everything in it, capable of both granting and erasing existence at the will of its wielder.

The Cauldron is the source of all magic in Prythian, older than the courts, older than the High Fae, older than the land itself. It is not a tool to be used lightly, for it can Make or Unmake anything—a mortal into High Fae, a faerie into nothing, even the Wall between worlds into a wound. To hold the Cauldron is to hold the power of creation and annihilation, and the King of Hybern now wields it to unmake the Treaty and remake the world in chains.

Appearance

It is a great, black, iron vessel, ancient and pitted, large enough to hold a fully grown faerie within its depths. Its surface seems to drink light, and when active it glows with a deep, molten silver that pulses like a heartbeat. The air around it hums with a pressure that makes the teeth ache and the skin prickle.

What They Know

• The Cauldron is believed to have existed before the land itself, emerging from the void to shape the world and all its creatures.
• It was used in the last War to create the Wall, a barrier of magic that separated the fae realms from the mortal lands.
• The Cauldron can Make or Unmake anything, but the process leaves a permanent mark—those who are Made are forever changed, and the Unmade are erased from existence entirely.
• It is said that the Cauldron has a will of its own, and that it chooses whom to serve, though the King of Hybern has bound it through unknown means.
• The Book of Breathings, a text written in a language of salt and starlight, contains the only known method to nullify the Cauldron's power.
