Under the Mountain

Location from acotar-thorns-and-roses by

A subterranean court of horrors carved beneath a mountain in the mortal lands, where Amarantha holds the seven High Lords of Prythian in thrall and tortures for her amusement.

Under the Mountain is not a court in any true sense—it is a prison dressed in the trappings of power, a labyrinth of dank halls and brutal chambers where Amarantha rules with an iron fist and a cruel smile. Here, the High Lords of Prythian are reduced to shadows of themselves, their magic leashed by the curse that binds them, their dignity stripped away in the endless revels and tortures their captor orchestrates. It is a place where hope goes to die, and where a mortal girl might be the only spark that sets it ablaze.

Appearance

A vast, oppressive cavern of black rock lit by guttering torches and the cold glow of faerie fire, its walls slick with damp and its floors stained with old blood. The air is thick with the smell of iron, smoke, and fear, and the sound of distant screams echoes through the stone corridors like a heartbeat.

Also known as: the Mountain, Amarantha's Court, the Prison Under the Mountain, the Cavern of Chains
