Beneath its brutal exterior, it is a prison of tradition and fear, where the High Lord walks a razor's edge between keeping his people in line and protecting the hidden jewel of Velaris from discovery.
A vast, cavernous city of black stone and carved obsidian, lit by guttering braziers and the cold glow of faefire, where every surface is sharp-edged and every shadow seems to move with a life of its own. The air smells of stone dust, smoke, and old blood, and the only music is the scream of the tortured or the laughter of the cruel.
