The Summer Court's capital is a city built for pleasure and profit, where the wealth of the southern seas flows through markets that never sleep. Its High Lord, Tarquin, rules from a palace of open arches and salt-worn coral, and his word carries from the gleaming harbor to the farthest fishing village along the coast. Adriata is the face the Summer Court shows the world: beautiful, generous, and utterly without shame in its pursuit of beauty and commerce.
Adriata rises from the shore in cascading terraces of pale stone and coral-pink tile, its buildings climbing the hillsides like bleached bones warmed by an endless sun. The air shimmers with heat and the tang of brine, and every surface seems to reflect the brilliant blue of the sea that surrounds the city on three sides. By night, the harbor glows with lantern-light strung between masts, and the water itself seems to hold the memory of daylight, lapping against marble quays in shades of turquoise and jade.
