What They Know
- The Cauldron is older than the courts, older than the High Fae, older than the Wall. It was present at the dawn of the world, when the Mother used it to pour out the land and the seas and the first creatures.
- It is said that the Cauldron can Make anything—a new body, a new soul, a new power—but that every Making requires an equal Unmaking elsewhere, a balance that no mortal or faerie fully understands.
- The Dread Trove—the Mask, the Crown, the Harp—were each Made by the Cauldron in ages past, and they retain a fragment of its will, which is why they are so dangerous.
- The King of Hybern has claimed the Cauldron and seeks to use it to tear down the Wall and remake the world in his image. He keeps it at the heart of his fortress, guarded by his most loyal and terrible servants.
- Only one being in living memory has been remade by the Cauldron: a mortal girl who died and was poured back out as High Fae, bearing the mark of the Cauldron's touch forever.
