The Wall
Location from acotar-silver-flames by
An invisible, ancient barrier of magic that has divided the faerie realm of Prythian from the mortal lands for five centuries, a scar of the last great War and the Treaty that ended it.
Also known as: The Treaty Wall, The Great Barrier, The Veil, The Dividing Line
What They Know
- The Wall was raised after the War five hundred years ago, when the mortal queens and the High Lords of Prythian signed the Treaty that ended the fae's enslavement of humans.
- It is invisible to the eye but can be felt as a cold, humming pressure; crossing it without permission causes searing pain and can kill a faerie outright.
- The Wall is weakest at the old crossing points, where smugglers and desperate souls have worn thin the magic over centuries.
- Iron and ash wood, the only things that can wound a faerie, are said to be the Wall's only physical weakness — though no one has ever tested it and lived.
- The King of Hybern has spent five centuries dreaming of tearing the Wall down, and his agents have been mapping its weaknesses for decades.
- The Wall does not merely separate lands — it separates worlds of magic and mortality, and the fae who cross it feel their power dim, as if the very air is thinner on the other side.
