A living fortress of stone and wind perched atop the mountain overlooking Velaris, serving as training grounds for Illyrian warriors and sanctuary for the priestesses of the library below.
The House of Wind is both a fortress and a home, a place where the Illyrian legions train their warriors and where the priestesses of the library find refuge from the world above. It is a living thing, its walls breathing with the mountain's pulse, its corridors shifting when it pleases to guide or confound those who walk them. For Nesta Archeron, it became a prison of her own making, then a forge where she was remade.
Carved from the living mountain itself, the House of Wind rises in pale gray stone, its balconies and terraces jutting into the sky like the ribs of some ancient beast. Windows of leaded glass catch the sun and throw rainbows across the polished floors within, while the wind howls around its spires with a voice that never falls silent. Inside, the halls are warm with firelight and tapestries, the stone softened by rugs and the scent of cedar and old books.
