The Mask is one of the three objects of the Dread Trove, a made thing of the Cauldron that grants its wearer dominion over the dead.

What They Know

• The Mask is one of three objects of the Dread Trove, alongside the Crown and the Harp, all made by the Cauldron in the dawn of the world.
• It is said that the Mask was used in the War five hundred years ago to raise the fallen of both sides, turning the tide of battle with an army that could not be killed again.
• The Mask cannot be destroyed by any known means—fire, iron, ash, and faebane have all been tried and failed.
• The Mask is bound to the Cauldron's will, and it is believed that only a Made being—one who has been remade by the Cauldron—can wield it without being consumed.
• The Mask has been hidden for centuries, buried in a place where the dead are thick and the living fear to tread, waiting for a hand strong enough to claim it.
