Amren
Character from acotar-silver-flames by
An ancient being of unknown origin, Amren is the Night Court's most dangerous advisor, a creature of death and judgment who was imprisoned in the Prison for millennia before being freed by Rhysand's father.
Amren is the Night Court's secret weapon and its most terrifying resident: a being older than the courts, older than the Wall, who was once a creature of pure death and judgment before being given a fae body. She serves Rhysand as an advisor, but her loyalty is to power and truth, not sentiment, and she carries the cold, patient hunger of something that has been caged for too long.
Appearance
Amren appears as a small, delicate female with silver-white hair cropped short, pale skin, and eyes of molten silver that hold no warmth—only the cold, ancient light of something that has seen the world unmade. She dresses in simple, elegant clothes, often in shades of gray or black, and moves with a stillness that makes the air around her feel thin and watchful.
Also known as: Amren, the Ancient One, the Prison's Guest, the Silver-Eyed, the Judge
What They Know
- Amren knows the true nature of the Dread Trove—that it was Made by the same power that Made her, and that it can unmake the world if wielded by the wrong hands.
- She knows the location and nature of every ancient being imprisoned in the Prison, including the Bone Carver and the Weaver, and has bargained with them for secrets.
- Amren understands the language of the Book of Breathings, which is written in a tongue older than the fae, and can read the patterns of fate in the stars.
- She knows that the Cauldron is not a tool but a sentient force, and that it chose Nesta for a purpose even the High Lords do not grasp.
- Amren carries the memory of the world before the courts, before the Wall, before the fae—a time when death was a law and she was its enforcer.
- She knows that the King of Hybern is not the true threat; the Dread Trove is, and it is waking because something has disturbed the balance of power.
- Amren has seen the future in the silver pools of her own blood, and she knows that Nesta's fire will either save Prythian or burn it to ash.
