The Weaver's Cottage
Location from acotar-mist-and-fury by
A deathly still cottage deep in a nameless wood, home to the Weaver — an ancient, powerful being who guards a piece of the Dread Trove and consumes any who approach without the right bargain or the right blood.
Also known as: The Weaver's Cottage, The Cottage in the Wood, The Weaver's Lair, The Spinner's Hut
What They Know
- The Weaver is not a High Fae, nor any known faerie — she is something older, possibly as old as the Cauldron itself, and she does not age, sleep, or relent.
- She weaves a tapestry from threads spun from the life-force of those she kills; the tapestry is said to contain their final screams, their last memories, their very souls.
- The cottage holds one of the Dread Trove — a piece of the Mask, the Crown, or the Harp — and the Weaver guards it with a possessiveness that borders on worship.
- No one has ever taken the Trove piece from the cottage by force; those who tried are now silk on her loom.
- The cottage cannot be found by seeking — it appears only when the Weaver wills it, or when someone carries a death-mark that draws her attention.
- The Weaver does not bargain in the usual sense; she trades only for things of equal or greater value — a life, a memory, a century of service, or a piece of the Trove itself.
