Faebane
Item from acotar-mist-and-fury by
A poison that chokes magic at its source, brewed by Hybern to counter fae power.
Also known as: Faebane, the Choking Dust, Hybern's Brew, the Silent Kill
What They Know
- Faebane is derived from the crushed roots of a plant that grows only on the blighted eastern shores of Hybern, where the earth is salted with ancient battlefields.
- It does not kill — it incapacitates, draining a faerie's magic until they are no stronger than a mortal, and the effect can last hours or days depending on dose and potency.
- The brew is notoriously unstable; improper distillation can render it inert or turn it into a volatile gas that kills the brewer.
- Faebane can be administered through ingestion, inhalation, or contact with open wounds, but it degrades rapidly in sunlight, making it a weapon of ambush and shadow.
- The King of Hybern has stockpiled enough faebane to poison the wells of every court in Prythian, should he choose to.
