One of the three dread trove objects, the Crown is an ancient made thing of unspeakable power that compels obedience and bends the will of any who wear it.
Also known as: The Crown of Dominion, The Circlet of the Dread Trove, The Third Made Thing
What They Know
- The Crown is one of three objects that comprise the Dread Trove, alongside the Mask and the Harp, all made by the Cauldron in a time before memory.
- It is said that whoever wears the Crown can compel the obedience of any creature—fae, mortal, or beast—with no resistance possible, save perhaps by another made object of equal power.
- The Crown was hidden away by the ancient High Lords after a war that nearly broke the world, its location lost to all but the oldest of beings, like the Bone Carver or the Weaver.
- To wear the Crown is to risk losing oneself entirely, for the power it grants is not a gift but a possession: the Crown's will becomes the wearer's will, and the wearer becomes a vessel for its purpose.
- The Crown is cold to the touch, and those who have come near it speak of a pressure in the mind, a whispering that promises control over others—but at the cost of one's own freedom.
