The Cauldron

Item from acotar-mist-and-fury by

The Cauldron is the primordial vessel that Made the world and every soul in it, capable of both creation and utter unmaking.

The Cauldron is the source of all magic in Prythian and beyond, older than the courts, older than the High Fae. It was used by the Mother to create the world and all its creatures, and it remains the ultimate instrument of Making and Unmaking. To be immersed in the Cauldron is to be remade—as Feyre Archeron was—but the price is a fundamental change that cannot be reversed.

Appearance

A vast, black iron cauldron, scarred and pitted by ages beyond counting, its surface etched with symbols that shift when the light touches them. It is large enough to hold a person, and when active, it glows with a deep, molten light that seems to draw warmth from the air itself.

Also known as: The Great Cauldron, The Cauldron of Making, The Mother's Vessel, The Black Cauldron
