Callow's destroyed second city — turned into a flying doomsday weapon by Akua Sahelian, who sacrificed a hundred thousand souls to power it. The name became a synonym for atrocity.
Liesse was Callow's second most important city until Akua Sahelian turned it into a flying weapon powered by the sacrifice of 100,000 souls. The First and Second Battles of Liesse are the series' most consequential confrontations, and the city's destruction is the atrocity that defines the moral landscape of the entire story. The Liesse Accords are named for it — Catherine's peace treaty bears the name of the worst thing that happened in the war, because you don't forget the cost of what you're trying to prevent.
No longer exists as a living city. What remains depends on when you're looking: a prosperous second city, then a flying weapon, then ruins, then nothing. The crater where it stood is the series' most significant absence.
