The Woe

Item from A Practical Guide to Evil by ErraticErrata

Catherine's band of five — the Black Queen, the Hierophant, the Archer, the Thief, and the Adjutant. The next generation of Named who tried to break the cycle their predecessors perpetuated.

The Woe are Catherine's band of five: Catherine (Squire/Black Queen/Warden), Masego (Hierophant), Indrani (Archer), Vivienne (Thief/Princess), and Hakram (Adjutant/Warlord). Akua Sahelian was an unofficial member — bound in Catherine's cloak, then freed, her membership was as complicated as her redemption. Where the Calamities conquered and held, the Woe tried to build something that could exist without Named keeping it together. The Liesse Accords are their collective legacy — a framework that doesn't require any specific Named to function. Their dynamic is found-family: the orphan, the prodigy, the slave, the rebel, and the orc who never fit in. They bicker, bleed for each other, and save the world as a side effect of trying to save each other.

Appearance

Five Named who look like a war party that became a family. Catherine in her Mantle of Woe, Masego blind and brilliant, Indrani wild and sharp, Vivienne principled and sharp-tongued, Hakram scarred and standing. They don't match. They fit.
