The Drow's stolen divinity — power bargained from the Gods Below, gathered through murder, wielded by the Mighty, and eventually reformed when Sve Noc ascended and Catherine became its first mortal conduit.
Night is the drow's power system, bargained from the Gods Below by Andronike and Komena. It functions through competitive murder: the Mighty steal Night from those they kill, accumulating power through violence. This created a murderously competitive drow society — survival meant killing, and killing meant power. Catherine fed the twin sisters her Winter mantle, completing their apotheosis into true goddesses. As Sve Noc, they reformed Night's distribution — it no longer required murder to transfer, breaking the cycle of competitive killing that had defined drow culture for millennia. As First Under the Night, Catherine could wield Night directly: dark miracles, gate creation, raising undead, empowering drow warriors. Night loses to Light (the divine power of Above) in direct confrontation but is more versatile.
Night manifests as darkness that moves with purpose — shadows that reach, darkness that strikes, absence of light that carries force. It's weaker in daylight, stronger underground, and when wielded by the Mighty, it looks like violence given form.
