Item from A Practical Guide to Evil by ErraticErrata
Catherine's life work — a treaty framework governing how Named behave across Calernia, enforced by the Warden and the White Knight, named for the worst atrocity of the war as a reminder of what happens without rules.
The Liesse Accords are Catherine Foundling's masterwork: a treaty that governs the conduct of Named across all of Calernia. Named who violate the Accords face judgment from the Warden (Catherine, then her successor) and the White Knight. Key provisions: no sacking of cities, no summoning angels or demons, no devils, no torture of prisoners, regular prisoner exchanges, all genuine surrenders honored. The Truce and Terms served as a wartime precursor. The Accords are named for Liesse — where Akua sacrificed 100,000 souls for a superweapon — because Catherine wanted every signatory to remember what happens when Named operate without rules. It's the series' thematic resolution: not Good triumphing over Evil, but both sides agreeing to stop escalating.
A diplomatic document — treaties don't look impressive. What looks impressive is the enforcement mechanism: a Villain Named whose Aspect can sentence Named to death and a Hero Named whose Aspect can undo unjust deaths. The Accords have teeth because their enforcers do.
