Indrani was born a slave in Mercantis, valued for being 'exotic.' She met Hye Su at age nine and was taken to Refuge, where she became the strongest of Ranger's five pupils. She inherited her teacher's love of the fight and rejected her teacher's isolation — where Ranger hunted alone, Indrani chose to hunt alongside people she loved. She's wild, hedonistic, flirtatious, and incapable of taking anything seriously for longer than ten seconds unless it involves archery or the people she cares about. She drinks heavily, flirts outrageously, and approaches life with the appetite of someone who spent her first nine years with nothing. Her marksmanship borders on supernatural even without Aspects: she can hit targets from miles away and hide an arrow in the curve of another mid-flight. Her Aspects — See (elven eyesight), Flow (brief supernatural combat skill), Stride (rapid travel) — complement rather than replace genuine skill. Her relationship architecture is the series' most creative: she's Catherine's lover and Masego's non-physical romantic partner, and considers both relationships equally real. 'How long are we going to live, either of us?' she asks. 'If that's my limit, I want to sample as much of that bit as I can.'

White chainmail splitting into a skirt, a long leather coat with a hood, and a dark green scarf covering her lower face — the first thing she ever owned, stolen from her slaveowner, gifted to her by Ranger. She carries an ancient Lycaonese longbow so tense even an orc can't draw the string.
