A sprawling movie studio split between two rival directors -- one side is western sets and train stations, the other is disco stages and parade floats, and both want Hat Kid as their star.
Dead Bird Studio is the setting for Chapter 2: Battle of the Birds, and it is one of the most creatively ambitious locations in the game. Rather than a single cohesive area, it is a workplace shared by two directors who despise each other, and each act takes Hat Kid into a completely different film set. The Conductor's films include Murder on the Owl Express (a train-based murder mystery) and Train Rush (an exploding train escape). DJ Grooves' films include Picture Perfect (a celebrity photo op through a city) and The Big Parade (a musical parade across rooftops). Each 'act' is technically a movie being filmed, which means the locations within them are both real and fictional simultaneously. The studio's origin story, told through Storybooks, reveals that both directors dreamed of making great movies as children after watching the same TV show. They were both scammed into buying keys to the same building, which sparked their lifelong rivalry. There is no Dead Bird Studio Two, despite internal references suggesting one exists.
